Introduction:
Tropical depression grace over the earthquake hit southwest Haiti on August 17, 2021. It caused torrential rains and high winds ending into flooding in one area.
Highlights:
- Tropical depression hit, when Haiti is still scrambles to overcome the effects of a massive earthquake.
- Earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale had hit the nation on August 14.
- Number of homeless has increasing and the disaster has so far killed about 1419 people.
- Tropical depression Grace had a speed of 35mph. It was unlikely to emerging into a tropical storm since it moved westward at a speed of 15mph towards south of Port Au Prince.
- Concerns are there as tropical depression is causing great damage in Mexico and is strengthening into a destructive tropical storm –a hurricane.
Where is Haiti?
- Haiti is a country on the island of Hispaniola located in Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean Sea. It is located to the east of Cuba & Jamaica and south of The Bahamas, Turks & Caicos Islands. It accounts for western three-eighths of the island and shares it with the Dominican Republic.

- It is the third largest country in Caribbean with respect to area. It is also the most populous country in the Caribbean with population of 11.4 million.

Navassa Island is claimed by Haiti. However, it is disputed as a United States territory under federal administration.
History
The nation was originally inhabited by indigenous Taíno people. They originated in South America. First Europeans arrived in 1492 during the first voyage of Christopher Columbus. Columbus founded the first European settlement in the Americas, La Navidad which is now called as northeastern coast of Haiti.
