Nationwide Tree Plantation Drive of CAPFs launched by the Home Minister.

 Introduction:

Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah planted a sapling of the ‘peepal’ tree at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Campus in Gurugram today to mark  the launch of the CAPFs nationwide tree plantation drive undertaken by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Highlights:

• The tree plantation drive was inaugurated on 12^th July 2020 by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
• Plantation drive aims to plant  1.37 crore saplings across the country.
• On the inaugural day ,about 10 lakh saplings were planted throughout  the country by CAPFs.
• More than 20 lakh saplings have already been planted across the country by CAPFs.
• Peepal,Jamun, Neem ,Bargad have been chosen for plantation due to their oxygen providing capabilities and their ability to survive under varying climatic conditions.
• CAPFs across the country had already started the nationwide campaign in February 2020 with the aim to plant  1.37 crore saplings across the country, though the official launch took place on 12^th July 2020.
