Introduction:
India has recently inaugurated its first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh, Ladakh, which is milestone in the green mobility sector. The project was completed by Amara Raja Infra for NTPC Ltd, which aims to promote emission-free transport in the region.
Project Overview
The green hydrogen fuelling station is part of a broader green mobility initiative, which enables the operation of hydrogen fuel cell buses in Leh. The project was inaugurated by Union Minister Manohar Lal. This station positions India as a leader in green mobility.
Station Specifications
The fuelling station can produce 80 kg of green hydrogen daily. It was constructed at an altitude of 3,400 meters. The temperature range during construction varied from -25°C to 30°C. The project took two years to complete.
Operational Details
NTPC will operate five hydrogen fuel cell buses in the region. The project includes three years of operation and maintenance for all systems. This ensures the fuelling station runs efficiently. This project is a step towards larger green hydrogen initiatives in India. It aligns with the National Hydrogen Energy Mission. The initiative aims to enhance hydrogen mobility and storage solutions across the country
