Introduction:
India’s first organic waste-powered Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station has been inaugurated at Keshavrao Khadye Marg, Mumbai, Aditya Thackeray, Maharashtra’s Minister of Environment and Tourism inaugurated this charging station on 9th May 2022.
Who has developed this organic waste-powered charging station?
- This organic waste-powered charging station has been jointly developed by AeroCare Clean Energy and ward D of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
- Daily this plant processes around 2,000 kgs of garbage.
Energy are generated from this plant.
- 220 units of energy are generated from this waste management plant and it powers the streetlights.
- Now, this plant will also be acting as an EV charging station. Fats-charging will also be made available for the EV owners at a reasonable price.
- This plant can also generate around 80 to 110 cubic metres of gas daily.
How much food waste has been utilized so far by this plant?
- In the year 2021, this plant was installed.
- To generate electricity, this facility has till now already utilized around 1.5 lakh kilograms of food waste.
- The BMC has plans of installing more organic waste-powered EV charging stations so that EV adoptability increases in the region.
